Computers and information technology is the emerging trend and an empirical mode of learning. Since 1995, VCMCS is offering Masters in Computer applications programme for students who choose to make an impact on this technological miracle of this century. Form the year 2002; this course is being offered at VEC too. These professionals have a very key role to play in not just shaping the future of our nation but the whole world. Velammal has ultramodern facilities and the essential infrastructure for training students. The faculty is well qualified, trained and with rich experience. Industry majors contribute by providing live projects, guest lectures on emerging technologies, seminars and also by creating work environment close to the actual situation in the industry.

Information Technology is as vast as the space. It is like the tunnel without an end. You can go on digging into it and the treasure will never cease to appear. Velammal Engineering College is offering training for Masters in Information Technology since 2001 and a five-year integrated course in M.Sc., Computer Technology from the academic year 2002-03. Both these course offer theoretical and practical training in various advanced course structure. In this age of rapid change and development in science and technology, the entire course is intended to cater to the requirements of the industry. A balance is maintained throughout the course in the treatment of both software and hardware topics.

In addition to the regular course curriculum, the students are given assignments, attend seminars, listen to guest lectures, attend quality circle meets and are sent on industrial visits. Beside the usual curriculum, students are assigned projects and seminars in each semester. The final two semesters are earmarked for project works preferably in an industry. On completion of the course the students master the subject and are ready to take the technology a step further ahead.

The two-year MBA course at Velammal that was introduced in the year 1995 is designed to train the students as competent and effective managers in business administration. The curriculum is structured to cover a wide rang of topics that encompass the actual practice at the market place and to explore the innate talent and enhance their skill sets to face the tough competition in this rapidly developing economy. To shape the dynamic business managers, entire programme is directed towards sharpening the analytical skills, value judgment and decision-making skills in the students. Students undergo additional training programmes in the latest information technology in the advanced computer lab.

Students undertake project training with leading multination companies in consumer durables, electronics and so on. Stalwarts and corporate leaders from various industries render guest lectures on brand building, marketing strategies, and marketing dynamics and so on. In the last semester they also undertake a project where they work in a group on projects benefiting the local industries or dealing with some local problems. Students are also encouraged students to organize Inter-collegiate Technical and Management festivals.
